Richard Branson: Life at 30,000 feet

Richard Branson’s – Virgin company websites – many of them are membership sites. Go here http://www.Virgin.com  and click on some of their various business websites – you will find register links and login links.

When Richard Branson was at school, his headmaster predicted he would wind up either a millionaire or in jail. Since then, he’s done both. Here he talks to TED’s Chris Anderson about the ups and the downs of his career, from his multibillionaire success to his multiple near-death experiences, from Virgin’s line of spacecraft to the failure of the Virgin condom. He also reveals some of his (very surprising) motivations.

    Hi…

I love this interview! In fact I love listening to Richard whenever he is being interviewed. He provides so much down to earth, natural, motivational and inspirational information… and he certainly practices what he preaches. His philosophy is to bring out the best in people and they will give their best. He has his ups and downs in business… he makes it look such great fun! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had more Richards running large companies!

  2. I truly admire the wealth of humanity I saw in this interview with Mr. Richard Branson. As a person who has it all and cares so much for the rest of humanity I can only hope to be as rich in empathy, and proactive social intervention. As more people care, more will get done. Hats off to you Sir Richard Branson.

  3. I have seen a few interviews with Richard. He is living a dream life
everyone wants. He took risks and has paid of big for him. The more power to him. He has so much knowledge and not like others he shares
his experiences with others. He is great in every way.

It a great interview and inspiring one! I like the point when he mentioned about his own experience about flying in the other airline 21 years ago and said why not have an airline that he will like to fly in. In it, there is not only dream, but also working towards it.

  6. What a great interview! I am a huge fan of Richard Branson. He has a humility about him that adds to his charm, and as a business owner, I consider him one of my heroes. Thanks you for sharing this delightful and insightful interview.

I think it’s inspiring if not motivational to watch and listen to someone who started from zero to owning a multitude of businesses and becoming a success story for others to learn from his experiences.
Where Sir Richard has excelled is an example for all of us to learn by proxy.

For the Space Flight we all hope and wish that the next scheduled flight is a true success and leads the way forward in Aeronautical Development.

I would hope that on-board the new craft there are additional reserves of air cylinders in case a problem should ever arise mid-flight. This safety measure will at least help the crew & passenger’s survival until help reaches them.

  8. Pete Moring says:

It’s always a pleasure to see or hear Richard Branson speaking. He is an inspiration to all, and especially the younger generation who are all ‘internetty’ by nature, and so able to spread those positive vibes faster than us ‘oldies’ could ever do.

A valuable video in the ‘Big Picture’.

  9. Steve Adams says:

Richard Branson, when words come out of his mouth you better be listening.

I have watched this interview twice already and I suggest you go back and watch it again.

Sometimes you have to look for the content inside the words, it’s kind of like panning for Gold.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  10. Pretty good interview.
Richard Branson personifies a successful example of the fundamental qualities and attributes required of anyone building a business.
    Amongst others……
    Dare to dream.
    Create the vision.
Treat everyone and everything with respect.
    Delegate.
Be a doer of things that you’re interested in.
It can be exhilarating to be adventurous
When success finally arrives exhibit some humility because nothing is possible without the co-operation of others.

Wow! That was truly inspirational. I always thought of Sir Richard Branson as a nice guy, but now i think even better of him. His humility and purity of thought are quite refreshing especially of someone of his status. One can learn so much just from this brief interview about overcoming limitiations and the great things we can do. He knows that his wealth is a gift not only to him and to the world. Rest assured sir Richard that when you leave this world you would indeed have made it a better place. May God bless you in your life and in all of your endeavors

  13. Nicole says:

I’ll tell you what else i learnt and what others should learn -
    1. We accomplish so much despite our limitations. I would be happy to share this interview with those i encounter who feel like failures and that they cannot accomplish much because they do not excel in school.
    2. Take risks, don’t be afraid. It pays off.
    3. The truly great men are those who remain humble despite their success
    4. Despite being tremendously busy we can always make time for the most important things-like family.
5.We do not need to be ruthless and backstabbing to succeed in life.
    6. People matter
    7. With great power/wealth comes great responsibility. When we are blessed with so much it is to be used to help those less fortunate, thus making the world a better place.

Sir Richard you are a truly a great human being, and got a sense of humor too. I agree with Edward. That Virgin Brides joke was really funny! I would love to meet you some day.
